Enjoying all that is Good about Takapoto

When Takapoto Estate went looking for a suitable catering company to serve the food in the Bellevue Marquee during the two-week boutique show, they didn’t need to look further than Hamilton’s Kerr & Ladbrook Catering.

Takapoto’s Mikayla Plaw has worked closely with the company to put together divine menus for those who like to enjoy good food, good wine and good coffee while watching world-class competition.

Weekend breakfast of eggs Benedict never tasted so good, with gorgeous lunches also on tap and grazing platters too. Food is served until early evening with the kitchen closed on Sundays for functions. A full bar is stacked with an incredible wine list alongside artisan beer and more, as well as good coffee.

Function fun kicks off with Sunday’s (February 23) Harney & Sons High Tea with mini custard squares, Belgian chocolate and pecan brownies, miniature caramel doughnuts, creamy smoked chicken and salad sandwiches and more. There are still a few tickets left but don’t dilly dally as this popular event will soon be full.

Tickets are also flying out the door to the other functions. The much-anticipated Farm to Table features all that is good about Takapoto Estate – from the honey to the veggies, the herbs and the beef. The Thursday (February 27) event is already a sell-out.

There are just a handful of tickets left for the APL Cocktail Party on Saturday (February 29). The Fork n Walk food has all the stars, including salt n pepper squid, red duck curry and jerk chicken, among other goodies, and all finished off with s’mores pops, lemon curd panacotta cups and oh-so-decadent truffles.

Of course the grand finale, the Grand Prix Luncheon on Sunday (March 1) brings the event to a fitting crescendo with a plated three-course meal including miso cured salmon, chicken and prawns, salad and dessert. Most tickets are sold but if you move quickly you may be able to secure the last one or two.

All up, the Bellevue Marquee, which offers views of both the Bellevue and APL Sand arenas is the place to be to watch, dine and enjoy New Zealand’s premier equestrian event.
