Lots to Love about Takapoto
Kaye Williams has nothing but praise about Takapoto Estate Show Jumping. The FEI level 3 judge is president of the ground jury at the boutique event and has been involved with all three shows.
“The facilities are incredible here which really does make everyone’s job so much easier,” she says. “It is fantastic having overseas course designers as well as an offshore judge which is good for all of the officials, judges, stewards and technical delegates to be working alongside them for those nine days.”
The riders too benefited immensely from having so many top Australian combinations crossing the Tasman for the event. “The teams’ championship is a great addition to this fantastic show too as it educates our riders in team riding rather than an individual, which is so important for the future at that top level.”
Takapoto is based on the European way of doing shows with Gold, Silver and Bronze tours as well as age group classes. “It is a one-off for us here and very exciting for us to be doing what the rest of the world do. There is nothing wrong with what we do here, it is just nice to have something completely different at an event where the standard of everything is top notch. It is an absolute joy to work with and New Zealand show jumping is so lucky to have this on the calendar.”
