Training Days Offer the Thrill without the Pressure
Takapoto Estate’s training day is the perfect chance to ride your horse or pony over set courses in good arenas with fabulous footing. Show director Jaime Tiller, who will be designing the courses on Tuesday (February 25) for the special opening in the Takapoto Sand Arena.
Entries are still being taken with heights starting at 70cm and going up over five levels to 1.1m. “Riders do not need to be ESNZ registered to take part in this and we offer it for these riders to experience Takapoto when they perhaps aren’t ready for the bigger classes. This is a great chance in a non-pressurised environment.”
Most of the entries already in for the training day are from those not jumping the rest of the week. “These are completely practice rounds only,” says Jaime. “As long as riders pay for two classes, we are pretty relaxed about what heights they jump on the day.”
Classes start at 9.30am for the 70cm, with the 1.1m finishing around 2.15pm.
